Land
Monferrato is a distinctive land of the region Piemonte, as it can be easily recognized through its landscape, agricultural vocation and a well-defined and individualized culture.
Monferrato was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014, due to its peculiarities. Its slopes are covered by endless vineyards following their neatly shapes. Seemingly dry in the winter, vineyards are lined with pampini and verdant wine tendrils in the spring; but then, with the growing heat they get dressed with dark blue, purple, yellow grapes. Finally, after the harvest, valleys and slopes take on a fiery red color until the arrival of the mist, when they get off in an ever-pale yellow, spotted with brown.
In a last solemn and melancholy act, with the pungent cold the pampins finally fall down, slowly, crammed around the vine as a protective pile.
Moreover, behind this vital and sumptuous passage, at the foot of the trees another surprise of this land borns and grows, hidden and rare. The white truffle. More than a taste, a scent of perfume that is perfect for accompanying more than one dish. It is celebrated at a dedicated Fair held in the town Moncalvo in October each year, when a kind of a real treasure hunt starts, involving trifulau (truffle hunters) and their trusted dogs in night-time itineraries held secretly by the trifulau themselves.
ACTIVITIES IN MONFERRATO
Thank to the farmhouse strategic location, various activities are feasible.
Golf enthusiasts will be able to practice it at the Margara golf course, one of the most renowned Italian golf facilities. Two courses, both 18 holes.
For those ones who love relaxation, just a few kilometers from La Sergiunga there is an elegant SPA offering, in addition to the spa path, also personalized treatments.
For those ones who choose to spend a few days surrounded by nature, there are many routes by bike or on foot (pedal assisted bicycles can be rented in the nearby town Moncalvo).
